“It is thrilling to see first-hand the passion and devotion that schools and parents have in protecting children.”

“I began my volunteer work with the Safety Kid program about 7 years ago in my neighborhood day schools. It was of course rewarding, but when the opportunity arose to go beyond Los Angeles, I was up for the challenge. Traveling beyond my city limits affords me the opportunity to see what challenges and successes other communities are experiencing. There are opportunities for me to learn as a parent and as a volunteer. It is thrilling also to see first-hand the passion and devotion that schools and parents have in protecting children. When I give a presentation in Los Angeles—while knowing schools and parents in Seattle, Chicago, Brooklyn, Miami, are doing the same,—I feel energized and reassured that my efforts are meaningful.  Yes, the travel is quick, tiring, and takes me away from my family, but the reward in knowing we are part of the solution to end child abuse is the reward at the end.”
