Pittsburgh Child Safety Workshop is a Tribute to a Legacy

  • MYI Jewish Chronicle article

In October of 2014, Magen Yeladim Child Safety Institute Founder Debbie Fox was invited to Pittsburgh, PA, to do child abuse awareness and prevention workshops. The adult program drew over 300 parents from the Orthodox community, as well as the faculty and staff of Hillel Academy and Yeshiva Schools. The MY Child Safety Institute team then presented the Safety Kid program to the Hillel and Yeshiva students, teaching them the ABCs of Safety in the culturally sensitive and age-appropriate manner for which the program is renowned.

Debbie has spoken to parents around the nation and the Safety Kid program has been taught in over 100 schools. As the article in the Jewish Chronicle points out, however, the Pittsburgh event was made even more poignant by the fact that it was done in honor of David Menachem Gordon, a lone soldier in the IDF who was the survivor of sexual abuse and an advocate for abuse survivors.
