About Magen Yeladim Child Safety Institute

Magen Yeladim Child Safety Institute is a 501(c)3 charitable organization founded in 2013 by Debbie Fox, LCSW, to meet the need for culturally sensitive child abuse prevention materials in the Orthodox Jewish community in Los Angeles and around the world.

An Urgent Need

Ms. Fox first developed MY Child Safety Institute’s Safety Kid child abuse prevention program in 2006 for the Aleinu Family Resource Center (Aleinu) of Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles (JFSLA) in response to a series of heinous incidents of child abuse that occurred in LA’s Orthodox Jewish community around that time.

Over the years, the need for child abuse prevention education programs became increasingly apparent as not only more accounts of abuse emerged but an increasing number of Jewish communities in the United States and around the world inquired about and requested the culturally appropriate and sensitive Safety Kid programs for their communities.

An Important Opportunity

With this increasing demand from communities, schools, religious organizations and child welfare/social service agencies , the need for an organization dedicated exclusively to child safety and child abuse prevention programs became increasingly apparent.

Today, the Safety Kid programs are the flagship of MY Child Safety Institute’s growing services to Jewish communities around the globe in its mission of preventing, intervening in, and providing support for victims of child abuse and others who are vulnerable to abuse.

A Vision for a Better Future

MY Child Safety Institute is a think tank and leader in further researching and developing innovative community resource and support programs as a response to current community needs.
